Bought Sky, a new Radio aerial or similar recently? Got an antenna you're not sure where to place? Does it need Planning Permission?

Well..

You do not always need Planning Permission to install an antenna on your house. It depends on the circumstances and this site is designed to aid you to determine whether you require Planning Permission or not.

Please note that although we undertake to give the best advice possible, you are responsible for the appropriate placement of the antenna. If you have any doubt, please contact the Planning department of your local Council or seek independent professional advice.

If your house is a Listed Building or in a 'Designated Area' then you may also need additional permissions (such as Listed Building Consent, Conservation Area Consent etc).

Generally speaking the antenna is best located in a place that is not highly visible from the street so that it minimises its impact on the external appearance of the building.

Use the tool below by clicking on the area you intend to place the antenna and it will indicate whether Planning Permission may be required or not.
